The grotto at Lost Maples, colored for the Fall. Lost Maples is worthy of a trip any time of year – in the spring, the mountain laurels are in bloom, summer has all of nature in green and the fall brings out the colors in the lacey oaks and maples.

These falls are not very big at Lost Maples but you can get right down in them and get some very nice shots that pull out the textures of the land.

Vanderpool, Lost Maples SNA – Can Creek runs through parts of Lost Maples and provides a tranquil place for contemplation and the general enjoyment of nature. This shot is from one of the campsites on the East Trail.

Little bit of Fall reflecting at Lost Maples SNA… do love this park. This is along the East trail before getting to all the grottos… go off trail a bit along the creek and you can find this too…

Vanderpool, Lost Maples SNA – a grove of Lacey Oaks lines Can Creek at one of the campgrounds along the East Trail in Lost Maples. They turn a beautiful orange and yellow in the fall if conditions are right – this is from December 2008 when conditions were good for some nice color.

The color was hard to find at Lost Maples last week but there was some in a few parts of the park. Looking up through the leaves of a big leaf maple that had turned certainly did provide the color!
