Colorado River Panoramic

Hiking last week in McKinney Roughs down near Bastrop, Texas… a very nice hike with well groomed trails run by the LCRA that goes along a section of the Colorado River. This shot is a stitched pano from the "River Rapids" stop on the trail. It was a beautiful, warm day and the park was [...]

Down in the Falls(HDR)

Vanderpool, Lost Maples SNA. Spring trip to Lost Maples last year was very rewarding with budding trees, Mountain Laurels and running water! Tranquil waterfall near the crossroads of Lost Maples.

Lichen Limb Circle (HDR)

Lost Maples is a great place to explore, every time I go I see something different. Seasons change, trees grow and the park is just huge. Here is just an interesting lichen covered limb that I found interesting on one of my outings there.

Hay! Sunset… (HDR)

I’ve posted before that the neighborhood I live in is bordered by several working farms. One recently was recently fenced in and now has many cows out a-wandering…another is what they would like to get to, I bet…the hay! I find the haybales much easier to shoot (and less stuff for me to be aware [...]

Fencing with Storms (HDR)

Attempting a little something different today – HDR for textures and general coolness but desaturated a bit more than usual to bring out the stormy, windy nature of the day that this was shot. This was topside at Sonora Caverns the day we did the photo-hike. It was much nicer inside the cave!

Path under the mountain aka Valley of Ice (HDR)

The Valley of Ice in Sonora Caverns here in Texas… HDR is a really great way to capture this cave, I think, though it does take some careful processing to tone done the overly red/orange of the lighting…but it really brings out the textures, shadows and highlights. More to come in the future.

Can Creek Vigil (HDR)

Color Leaf (HDR)

There was excellent color at Lost Maples several years ago and I am still working on the photos… here we have a leaf (Red Oak, I think) just hanging on in the late Fall. Single RAW, converted with Photomatix and cleaned up with PS5.

Family Dinner

Hiking around McKinney Falls last year, not only were people visiting but all sorts of other creatures were having a day in the sun… And the Butterfly Visits….. the Carolina Jasmine in my backyard!

Cascade Falls

Cascade Falls was really flowing when I was visiting friends in Blacksburg last year. It was a great place to stop and cool off as we hiked around the area.
