In the Valley Of Ice, Caverns of Sonora.

Attempting a little something different today – HDR for textures and general coolness but desaturated a bit more than usual to bring out the stormy, windy nature of the day that this was shot. This was topside at Sonora Caverns the day we did the photo-hike. It was much nicer inside the cave!

The Valley of Ice in Sonora Caverns here in Texas… HDR is a really great way to capture this cave, I think, though it does take some careful processing to tone done the overly red/orange of the lighting…but it really brings out the textures, shadows and highlights. More to come in the future.

Took a half-day photography tour of Sonora Caverns back in December 2008 – as I learn new techniques and the HDR software improves, I find that I like to go back and see what I can do with previous shots that just didn’t work for me… like this one. If you have never been to [...]
